Statement on AI

A statement by Alicia Rades and her co-author Megan Linski on the use of artificial intelligence within their brands.

Megan Linski and Alicia Rades do not use AI (artificial intelligence) within the Hidden Legends brand, nor in their solo works, in order to write chapters or generate content, nor do they use generative AI in their advertising. Each of their books are written on their own or with the help of human co-authors, and their advertising is human-created. Each of their book covers are designed by a human being without the use of AI software, and all of their books are narrated by a real human person, without the use of AI narration.

Megan and Alicia’s books were stolen in order to train AI programs. Lawsuits and settlements for these violations are currently pending; however, if their content seems similar to AI, it is because dozens of their novels were stolen, used, and uploaded to create these AI book generation programs. The AI programs are copying and stealing their work to mimic and imitate their art; not the other way around. Megan and Alicia are currently not using AI themselves to write their books, and never will.

Megan and Alicia are committed to upholding these standards. They are willing to correct any issues that may arise through third parties or contractors they hire which use AI without their knowledge or consent within their brands.

Some corporations, companies and retailers require authors to consent to AI use through the agreement of their terms and conditions in order to host and sell books on their platforms, such as to generate chapter summaries. As such, Megan and Alicia are not able to opt out of all AI programs; however, they feel morally bound to avoid generative AI as much as they are able to within the industry.

A gentle reminder; accusing authors of using AI to generate novels, covers and narration can be extremely harmful, and should be avoided without clear evidence and/or proof. Thousands of authors have had their work stolen and used to create these AI programs, and as such, their work may appear to mimic AI, when in all reality, AI is imitating them. For an author, a false accusation of AI use can destroy their careers and livelihood. Please be kind and try to believe the best in others, until proven otherwise.
